Malaysian Navy Auxiliary Ship KA Bunga Mas 5 Completed Slipping at Pasir Gudang

PASIR GUDANG, 9 May - Congratulations to the crew of KA BUNGA MAS 5 (BM 5) and the Slipping Project Team on successfully completing the slipping within the stipulated period of about a month today.

KA BM 5 is the first large ship to undergo Slipping, where Slipping has not been made a scheduled maintenance routine for the past 25 years. Also, the previous Slipping routine only involved small vessels.
KA BM 5 completed the Slipping routine with the concept of "SMART", involving plating and underwater repair work at Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Sdn Bhd, Pasir Gudang, Johor.

The Slipping routine return initiative is the latest direction that combines Refit New Innovation (refit rebranding) and “SMART” Refit. For continuous improvement (Kaizen), the ship slipping period will be improved in the near future, which is shortened to 2 weeks for large ships, 1 week for small ships.

This initiative is the culmination of the idea of the Navy People that has been realized. Therefore, the people of #NavyPeople should be proud of this initiative and are advised to continue to innovate to improve the operational capabilities of the RMN Fleet, especially in the aspect of Man, Machine and Method (Process).
