17 RMR(Para) Conducted Counter-Insurgency Training - Exercise HELANG RIMBA


MALACCA: A total of four officers and 102 members of other ranks (LLP) from the 17th battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment (Para) (17 RMR(Para)) were involved in the exercise HELANG RIMBA Series 1/2021 in the vicinity of Terendak Camp from 26 to 30 Apr 2021.

This exercise is based on the Counter-Insurgency Warfare concept (CIW) and aims to improve the skills of personnel in dealing with the threat of insurgency and at the same time sharpening the skills of Field Warfare.

The conduct of Ex HELANG RIMBA began with theory and practical classes followed by field training.

Several scenarios have been created to test the planning and implementation of the officers and personnel, including training to repel vehicle ambushes, combat patrols, area ambushes and enemy tent attacks as well as the implementation of basic parades occupying the base and field discipline.

In addition, the After Action Review (AAR) phase was also implemented to ensure that all findings and deficiencies can be corrected.



The objective of the training this time, among others, is to prepare the troops for Exercise PARA PREDATOR Series 1/2021 and Exercise GERAK PANTAS Series 25/2021 in June 2021 as determined by the Commander of 10 Brigade (Para).
