Malaysian Army to Begin COVID-19 Vaccination from 8 March 2021


NEGERI SEMBILAN: Chief of Army (COA), Gen Tan Sri Datuk Zamrose Mohd Zain explained that Army personnel who serve at the front line will be given vaccine in stages starting 8 March 2021.

"We will do in stages for more than 26,000 Army personnel according to the priority of the assignment," explained COA during a press conference in conjunction with the 88th Army Day Message at the Army Basic Training Center on 1 March 2021.

COA added that he and 28 senior Army officers have been vaccinated for a start on 26 Feb 2021 and the vaccination will be given soon to the front line staff.

"There is nothing to worry about and I can continue to serve as the Chief of Army until today and there are no side effects," he said.

He hopes the vaccination program will continue, especially for those who work in the front line.

Earlier, it was revealed that the MAF has received a total of 10,530 doses out of the 84,240 vaccine for it's 42,120 personnel  for Phase 1. These vaccines are stored at MAF Vaccine Storage Centers in 93 Medical and Dental Depot, Armed Forces Hospital (HAT) Tuanku Mizan, HAT Terendak, HAT Pangkalan Lumut and Royal Malaysian Navy Base Hospital (TLDM), Kota Kinabalu. 

Phase 1 vaccination program for MAF staff is expected to be completed on 30 Apr 2021 and the remaining 79,041 MAF officers and members will receive the vaccine in the second phase.

Also present were the Deputy Chief of Army, Lt Gen Dato' Mohammad Ab Rahman and  Army Western Field Commander, Lt Gen Datuk Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan.
