17 RMR (Para) Participated in Exercise EAGLE STORM and URBAN EAGLE

MALACCA: The 17th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment (17 RMR) (Para) has conducted exercises STORM EAGLE 1/2021 and Exercise URBAN EAGLE  1/2021 involving seven officers, 198 other ranks from 17 RMR (Para) and an additional of 1 Platoon from unit under the 3rd Division around Tanjung Bidara General Area from 3 to 24 Feb 2021.

This training is part of the Pre-deployment Training planned before implementing the operational plan which aims to test the level of readiness of the unit in performing the task of the Quick Deployment Force (PAC) as well as 3 Div combat elements through raid, Operation in Build Up Area  (OBUA) as well as rescuing important targets.

The exercise began with the Theory and Practical Phase where each officer and other personnel conducted the Military Appreciation Process (MAP), Tactical Exercise Without Troops (TEWT) and Tactical Drill Exercise (TDX) to hone the skills and knowledge of members before undergoing training.

The Implementation Phase tested the abilities of 17 RMR in the executing the orders and be evaluated by the Commanding Officer 17 RMR (Para).

Meanwhile, entry into the objective area of ​​the EAGLE STORM Exercise located at Pulau Konet was carried out in the early morning by using a combat boat involving raids to the objective area.

The continuation of the attack was Exercise URBAN EAGLE with the concept of OBUA.

Evaluation throughout the exercise was presented during the After Action Review (AAR) at the end of the exercise to identify weaknesses that need to be improved as well as evaluate the achievement of the overall objectives.

In addition to preparing members before being mobilized to the operating area, this exercise is also intended as part of the preparation for 17 RMR (Para) before exercise PARA PREDATOR 1/2021 and the exercise GERAK PANTAS which will be held in May, June and July 2021 respectively as intended by the Commander of 10 Bgd (Para), Brig Gen Khairul Azmizal Ahmad Natal.

This exercise is carried out with strict SOP compliance to avoid COVID-19 infection.
